Not every one
needs a champion dog but every dog needs to feel
like a champion.
A happy dachshund with a great
personality starts with a healthy dachshund.
Genetics are the foundation of a dogs healthy
life. The best indication of good genetics is
good conformation. Conformation is the way a dog
conforms physically and performs functionally as
to the breed
standard.
Regardless of registry, it is the most important
factor when I consider a dog.
The dachshund
breed standard considers that the dachshund was
bred as a hunter, a "badger hound". And should
conform mentally and physically in order to
perform its duty. A healthy dachshund loves to
work and hunt. Their noses are long to sniff out
their hunt. They dig by instinct and the breast
bone should be prominent to support the body
while the dachshund burrows. The head should
taper evenly, like a narrow V and with out a
dome when viewed from the front so that the
dachshund can dart it's head into ground burrows
and not get stuck. The dachshund is a sight
hound and the eyes should be a dark almond
shape, not round and open for possible injury
while hunting. The long back is supported by a
muscular build, good ribbing length and further
protected with good balance.
Neck length,
shoulder and arm configuration along with proper
rear angulations and tail set provide for good
balance during a dachshunds quick and changing
movement. Proud of their
work , they love to please their person/owner
and are very loyal.

Dogs have been called "Mans
Best Friend" and appropriately so, because they
desire the companionship of man. How a puppy is
raised is so important. Dogs that are left in
cages to raise puppies in cages can not get a
healthy start in life! They are deprived
emotionally and physically of basic needs
leaving them with poor dispositions and hard to
train. While a pen, fenced in yard and crate are
necessary for safety and house training, I think
that any thing more can become cruel. Our
puppies that do not stay here with us for show
are available to quality companion homes with a
spay or neuter agreement.

Dachshund color
and pattern is the FUN part! We know our doxies
and our doxies know us! They each have
individual personalities and mannerisms. Color
and pattern only adds to the winning
combination. If you ask me today I would say I
am most fond of my red ladies! But yesterday it
was my pretty cream girls. I am truly blessed to
be able to have them all!
Bottom line..... WE LOVE OUR
DACHSHUNDS!!!
